10th-Jan-2008 09:07 pm - Ear tag of a lab animal

I want to make an ear tag like this for my fursuit, but I have no idea what to make it from. one person suggested wood with foil glued to it, but that wouldn't look too good, any other suggestions?
27th-Dec-2007 07:12 pm - On Moving Jaws
I'm working on a few heads right now, and am trying to get the moving jaw working right. I've got it moving ok (although not as well as I'd like) however to get it working I've had to give it somewhat of a "razorblade smile". Now obviously the means that it opens up well back along the jawline and I can't seem to work out how I'm going to cover part of this gap so that it looks more realistic without restricting the movement of the jaw.
So I guess what I'm asking is whose done this before? and can anyone give me any pointers?
24th-Dec-2007 10:35 am - newbie
Hello. I have been wanting to make my own fursuit for a little over a year now. but have never got in around to it. I am at a hill in the road on what i should do. I have been talking to someone that said the head is the most important part of the hole suit. I have to say i can see why that is. and i have been reading around the net and there is so many kinds of heads and ways to making it. with me being a newbie with all this. so cant anyone tell me what would be a good wy to making my very first fursuit head? I know what i want it to look like. I want a toon head. something cute and sassy. My fursonal is a wolf. I have so many other questions on making a suit but i well let this go for now. I well take any help i can get. I know this may take a lot of time but i am welling to put in the time, blood and sweat into it.

18th-Dec-2007 01:32 pm - tweaking a finished head?
coffee handstand
so i've been working on and off on this partial for a long time, but i finished the head a while ago. The front-view of the eyes has been bugging me and now that i'm close to done with it i would really like to try and fix the cross-eyed problem. trouble is i have no idea how to approach doing this to a completely finished head other than putting new eyes in it, which i'd rather not do because i really like the way the current eyes look from every other angle.

suggestions? is there any other way to fix the angle? i'm stumped. construction is plastic mesh and foam, buckram and fun foam eyes. the problem is basically that they are set too far on the sides of the head, because of the slope of the nose.

26th-Nov-2007 10:29 am - Latex Pawpads
I've been trying to work out a way of making latex pawpads without a great deal of success sadly.
I've made some molds etc and the shape is not to bad, but they take forever to cure and seem to warp slightly during this process.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips on making them, eg if there's any special kinds of latex etc required. At the moment I'm using regular liquid latex from a craft shop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated ^_^

 Mutt Head V2

Ok, after the many helpful suggestions by Korth Dono, I have rebuilt the head base for my mutt. ( I am trying for a tricolored - black, white, and brow mutt) I hadnt realized how short the muzzle was, so I am saving that head for another project. Now comes the kicker, can anyone spare the time to redline this head base so that I can have some guidlines for the foam? The eye piece on the head is because I wear glasses, and that lets me wear the heads I make comfortably with my glasses on. So any help would again be greatly appreciated.

9th-Oct-2007 09:49 am - First head!
Hey all, long time lurker first time poster!

The past few days I've been working on my first fursuit head - I originally bought a cheap partial on furbid with the intention of tidying it up a little but when it got here.. well, it needed refurring, refoaming, remeshing... so yay! had to remake the head from scratch. Naturally, I decided to do a different character with it rather than what I bought ^^

The character concept sheet can be seen here.

I haven't finished foaming yet, I've made 90% of the pieces just waiting for some critique before I stick them down properly. In the pictures they're held in place using duct tape.

Any thoughts?

This is what I have so far, it's no where near done, I still have to work on symmetry, giving it ears, and proportioning, as well as figure out what to do with the muzzle. It just looks so long to me. So I posted the in progress pictures here just in case I over look something. So critique me, please and if it matters this is my second head.
Soon to be Husky/Canine head(large pictures)Collapse )
